On focusing on yourself: “It is very unhealthy when girls devote all of their time to a guy and forget their friends and family. I did that. I was always looking for distractions because I was so afraid of being alone. I have spent the last year focusing on myself and it’s been incredible. More has come out of the past year than in my entire career so far, and I truly believe it was because I was taking care of myself and not focusing on guys.”

On finding love with the right guy: “Now I’m in a place where I can finally trust and love and be a better person for the man I am in a relationship with, instead of being a clingy girlfriend or getting jealous.”

On getting help when you need it: “It’s OK to love your body the way it is and it’s OK to reach out for help if you have drug and alcohol problems, or if you’re self-harming or being bullied.”

Demi Lovato was a guest on “TheEric Andre New Year’s Eve Spooktacular” last week, and things got weird.

Of course, that’s the purpose of Andre’s Adult Swim program, which spoofs talk shows in the most aggressively awkward ways possible.

Whether Lovato knew what she was getting into is not clear, but Andre certainly did his best to create a disorienting atmosphere — complete with fog machine, Sebastian Bach, plates of spaghetti, and a device designed to test Lovato’s “thetans.”

Demi Lovato went from judge to contestant on Wednesday’s “X Factor” when she performed with finalists Fifth Harmony.

The girl group, which sang two of Lovato’s hits earlier in the competition, joined the pop star for “Give Your Heart a Break” and earned a standing ovation.

“It was so much fun,” Lovato said of performing with the Fifth girls.

And the act’s mentor, Simon Cowell, was blown away.

“Demi Lovato, you were sensational,” he said. ”That is what I call pop perfection, what just happened.”

Christmas in Washington is a holiday tradition benefiting the Children’s National Medical Center and is attended each year by the President and First Lady, as well as many other Washington VIPs.

Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell were at each other’s throats on Wednesday over his “X Factor” contestants,Emblem3.

The three-member boy band has long been considered among the favorites to winthe singing competition, but Lovato shot the guys down after both of their performances.

While L.A. Reid and Britney Spears were very impressed with the trio’s version of BrunoMars’ ”Just the Way You Are,” Lovato griped it “wasn’t the best,” and told them guys it felt like “a downgraded version of the Jonas Brothers five years ago.”

Cowell then stuck up for his contestants, calling Lovato “Cruella” and telling her “that was incredibly dumb what you just said.”

But the bickering didn’t end there.

Following Emblem3′s rendition of the Alphaville song “Forever Young,” Reid noted they “nailed it,” while Spears declared it a “superstar performance.”

Lovato, however, continued to poke holes in their performance, prompting Cowell to ask, “What is the matter with you tonight?!

 

 

Demi Lovato is coming to Lindsay Lohan’s defense in the wake of the troubled star’s most recent arrest.

Lohan was taken into custody early Thursday after allegedly assaulting another woman at Avenue, a club in New York, leading to an avalanche of speculation about her legal future, mental state, and possible substance use.

Lovato, who’s been through her fair share of tabloid gossip and has never been shy about using Twitter to make a stand, took umbrage with what she perceived as the media unnecessarily piling on Lohan.

The “X Factor” judge tweeted at Perez Hilton after the blogger published a particularly sensational item about Lohan, writing, “@PerezHilton hey how about you just leave her alone? Instead of kicking someone while they’re down?”

Her tweet began a back-and-forth with Hilton in which Lovato argued that the press should ease up in its treatment.

“The media (not just you) don’t realize when you need to stop,” Lovato wrote to Hilton. “This isn’t a headline for your readers. This is someone’s life.”

She added, “I really wish we could go back in time when artists were known for their work. Not their personal lives.”

When Hilton contended that Lohan thrives on the drama, Lovato countered, “Regardless, why does it need to become everyone’s business? If you believe someone needs help – help them.”

Lohan, meanwhile, has been silent on Twitter since her arrest, aside from retweeting a fashion news story.

Demi Lovato just released the new lyric video for her new track, “Shut Up and Love Me.”

The 20-year-old musician sings in the song, “I’m starting to think you’re just not interested, maybe I should just give up and forget about you.”

Demi will be hitting the stage next month at VH1′s Divas, alongside Miley Cyrus, Ciara, and Jordin Sparks.
